Lightning Whelk
Sinistrofulgur perversum

Adult Lightning Whelks live on sandy marine flats, estuaries, and nearshore waters of the southeastern United States. They are active predators and scavengers, using a long proboscis and radula to feed on bivalves and animal remains. Their large left-handed shell is unusual among local whelks and provides formidable protection while they forage.
