Spurred Starshell
Astralium calcar
The Spurred Starshell lives on shallow rocky reefs and coral-rubble bottoms in the Indo-Pacific, where it moves slowly over hard surfaces. It grazes algae with its rasping radula, usually sheltering in crevices during the day. Its thick, star-shaped shell bears pointed spurs that make it difficult for predators to handle.
