Eurasian Beaver
Castor fiber

The adult Eurasian beaver is a large semi-aquatic rodent of rivers, lakes, wetlands, and wooded floodplains across Europe and parts of Asia. It feeds mainly on bark, twigs, leaves, aquatic vegetation, and stored branches cut with its powerful incisors. Adults are mostly crepuscular or nocturnal, swimming well and defending themselves with bites, tail slaps, and retreat into water or lodges. A notable fact is that its dams and canals reshape wetlands, creating habitat for many other species.
