Northern Walkingstick
Diapheromera femorata

Northern walkingsticks inhabit deciduous forests, hedgerows, and woodland margins across much of eastern North America. They browse leaves at night and spend the day resting motionless among branches, where their twiglike bodies are difficult to spot. Adults can shed a leg when grabbed by a predator, sometimes regenerating a replacement after a later molt.
