Giant Mealworm Beetle
Zophobas atratus

Adult giant mealworm beetles inhabit decaying wood, soil, and sheltered litter in warm environments. They are mainly active at night, scavenging plant debris, fungi, and other organic material with their chewing mouthparts. The beetle can release a pungent defensive secretion when threatened. Its hardened wing covers protect the folded flight wings underneath.
