Yellow-Banded Skipper
Pyrgus sidae

The adult Yellow-Banded Skipper lives in dry, flower-rich grasslands, rocky slopes, and open scrub across parts of southern Europe and western Asia. It flies rapidly and low over the ground, pausing to nectar at small flowers and bask in sunshine. Females lay eggs on suitable larval food plants, and the yellow-banded pattern on the underside of the hindwing is a useful identifying feature.
