Cushion Star
Culcita novaeguineae

Adult cushion stars inhabit shallow coral reefs and sheltered tropical lagoons in the Indo-Pacific. They move over the seabed on tube feet, feeding on detritus, algae, sponges, and other slow or attached invertebrates. Their inflated, thick body helps protect them, and they can evert their stomach onto food to digest it externally.
