Chital
Axis axis

Chital inhabit open woodland, forest edges, and grassy clearings across the Indian subcontinent. They graze on grasses and also browse leaves, shoots, fruit, and flowers. Males grow long, three-tined antlers that are shed and regrown annually, while their sharp alarm calls can alert other animals to predators.
