Arawana
Osteoglossum bicirrhosum

Adult arawanas live in slow rivers, oxbow lakes, and flooded forests throughout the Amazon basin. They are surface-oriented predators that eat fish, insects, crustaceans, and occasionally small animals taken from overhanging vegetation. Their bony tongue and paired chin barbels are distinctive features, and they can leap clear of the water to seize prey.
