Aesculapian Snake
Zamenis longissimus

Aesculapian snakes inhabit warm forests, scrubland, orchards, and old buildings across parts of Europe. Excellent climbers, they search trees, walls, and ground cover for rodents, birds, eggs, and lizards. This large but nonvenomous constrictor is named for its association with the staff of the Greek healer Asclepius.
