Fan worm
Sabellastarte sanctijosephi
Adult fan worms live fixed within flexible tubes on reefs and rocky coastal habitats. Their broad, feathery crown filters plankton and fine organic matter from passing water. Though the crown resembles a flower, it is made of specialized feeding tentacles that can vanish into the tube in an instant.
