Variegated Cutworm Moth
Peridroma saucia

This nocturnal moth occurs in fields, gardens, grasslands, and disturbed habitats across much of the world. Adults visit flowers for nectar and fly after dusk, while females lay eggs on many kinds of low-growing plants. The species is a capable migrant and may appear far beyond areas where it developed as a caterpillar.
