Denison Barb
Dawkinsia denisonii
Adults live in clear, fast-flowing rivers and streams of India’s Western Ghats, especially around rocky runs and pools. They are active omnivores, feeding on algae, plant material, insect larvae, and small crustaceans. A bold black side stripe and bright red band give this streamlined fish its distinctive appearance, while its speed helps it navigate strong currents.
