Rainbow Shark
Epalzeorhynchos frenatum
Adult rainbow sharks live in flowing freshwater rivers and streams, especially around rocky bottoms and submerged wood. They scrape algae, periphyton, and organic matter from surfaces, supplementing this diet with small invertebrates. Despite the name, this species is a cyprinid rather than a true shark and can be strongly territorial around favored shelter.
