Ocellate Freshwater Stingray
Potamotrygon motoro

The ocellate freshwater stingray inhabits warm rivers, lagoons, and seasonally flooded forests across much of South America. It glides over soft bottoms and hunts insects, crustaceans, molluscs, and small fish, often uncovering prey with its disc. Its conspicuous eye-like spots help break up its outline, while the barbed tail spine delivers a painful venomous defense.
