Marbled cone
Conus marmoreus

The adult marbled cone inhabits warm Indo-Pacific coral reefs, where it shelters on sandy or rubbly bottoms. Mostly active at night, it ambushes other mollusks using an extendable proboscis and venomous harpoon-like tooth. Its dark shell is marked with intricate pale marbling, and this large cone can deliver a medically significant sting if handled.
