Pearl Nassa
Nassarius margaritifer

Pearl nassas inhabit shallow tropical seas, especially sandy or muddy bottoms near reefs and seagrass beds. They burrow beneath the sediment and emerge quickly when their long siphon detects carrion or other food. This scavenging sea snail can seal itself behind an operculum inside its sturdy shell when threatened.
