Oak Beauty
Biston strataria
Adult Oak Beauty moths fly at night through deciduous woodland, hedgerows, parks, and mature gardens. They do not normally feed as adults, relying on energy stored during their caterpillar stage. Their bark-patterned wings make them difficult to spot when resting flat against tree trunks, while males use feathery antennae to locate females.
