Bluegrass Webworm Moth Caterpillar
Parapediasia teterellus (larva)
This small caterpillar lives in lawns, meadows, and other grass-rich places, sheltering in silk-lined tunnels among thatch and soil. It feeds chiefly on bluegrass and other turf grasses, often emerging at night to chew blades near its refuge. When disturbed, it quickly retreats down its webbed tunnel, which helps protect it from predators and drying out.
