Common Water Strider
Aquarius remigis

Common Water Striders patrol ponds, lakeshores, and slow streams, gliding rapidly across the water surface. They hunt trapped insects and small aquatic invertebrates, piercing prey with a pointed beak. Water-repellent hairs on their long legs spread their weight so effectively that they can stand and race on the surface film.
