Rough Green Snake
Opheodrys aestivus

Rough green snakes inhabit brushy woodland borders, overgrown fields, gardens, and vegetation near water in the southeastern United States. They climb through branches and tall plants in search of spiders, crickets, caterpillars, and other invertebrates. When threatened, they often freeze among leaves or slip away rather than bite. Their keeled scales give the skin a distinctly rough texture despite their slender appearance.
