Banded Murex
Hexaplex trunculus

Adults inhabit shallow coastal waters on mud, sand, rocks, and seagrass beds across the Mediterranean and nearby Atlantic coasts. They are slow-moving predators and scavengers that feed heavily on bivalves and other molluscs. An adult can bore through a victim's shell with secretions and its rasping radula before consuming the soft tissue.
