Wolf Spider
Alopecosa cuneata
Wolf Spiders inhabit sunny grasslands, field margins, and sparse scrub where they hunt across the ground. They stalk and rush small insects, subduing prey with a venomous bite rather than using a capture web. Females carry their egg sac beneath the abdomen and later transport newly hatched young on their backs.
