African wild ass
Equus africanus

Somali wild asses inhabit dry grasslands, stony deserts, and scrublands in northeastern Africa. They browse grasses, herbs, bark, and leaves, traveling widely to find food and water. Adults are alert and fleet-footed, using powerful kicks to defend themselves; their distinctive leg stripes are unlike those of other wild asses.
