Bay Barnacle
Amphibalanus improvisus

Adult bay barnacles live fixed to rocks, docks, shells, and boat hulls in brackish and marine waters. Feathery feeding limbs sweep through the water to filter plankton and organic particles. Its overlapping calcareous plates form a durable shell that can close tightly against drying and predators.
