Southern Cattle Heart Caterpillar
Parides sesostris (caterpillar)
This caterpillar lives on Aristolochia vines in tropical forests of Central and South America. It feeds steadily on the leaves, often resting along stems between meals. Chemicals from its host plant make it unpalatable, and it can expose a foul-smelling defensive organ when disturbed.
