Crucian Carp
Carassius carassius

Adult crucian carp inhabit vegetated ponds, lakes, and slow-moving lowland waters. They root through soft bottom sediment for insect larvae, crustaceans, plant matter, and detritus. Remarkably, they can endure very low oxygen conditions and may survive winter by remaining inactive in mud.
