Senegal mormyrid
Mormyrus rume

Senegal mormyrids live in rivers, floodplains, and other slow or still freshwater habitats across West Africa. They search the bottom for insect larvae, worms, crustaceans, and other small invertebrates. The elongated chin region is used to probe the substrate, while a weak electric organ aids navigation and prey detection in turbid water.
