Common Roach
Rutilus rutilus

Adult common roach live in lakes, ponds, canals, and slow-flowing rivers, often near vegetation or submerged structure. They are opportunistic omnivores that graze algae and plants while also taking insect larvae, small crustaceans, and molluscs. During spring spawning, adults gather in shallow vegetation and scatter adhesive eggs over aquatic plants.
