Electric Blue Hermit Crab
Calcinus elegans

This brightly colored hermit crab inhabits shallow coral reefs and rocky tropical shallows in the Indo-Pacific. It scavenges algae, detritus, and small animal matter, using its claws to pick food from crevices. An empty gastropod shell protects its soft abdomen, and the crab changes shells as it grows. Its vivid blue legs and orange-banded claws make it a conspicuous reef resident.
