Whitecheek Surgeonfish
Acanthurus nigricans
Adults live around coral and rocky reefs across the tropical Indo-Pacific. They spend much of the day grazing algae from reef surfaces and swim rapidly through complex reef structure. A sharp, scalpel-like spine on each side of the tail base can slash at close threats.
