Emerald Ash Borer Larva
Agrilus planipennis (larva)

This pale, flattened larva lives beneath the bark of ash trees in forests, woodlots, and urban plantings. It feeds on the tree's phloem and cambium, chewing winding galleries that disrupt the flow of nutrients and water. The larva spends its entire feeding stage concealed under bark and can severely damage or kill an infested ash tree.
