Spotted-Wing Grasshopper
Orphulella pelidna
Adults occupy grassy fields, wet meadows, and sedge-filled clearings, often resting low in the vegetation. They graze on grasses and broad-leaved plants, then leap into a short, rapid flight when disturbed. The adult's spotted hind wings become visible during flight, giving this grasshopper its common name.
