These terms apply when you use the Animalis app and website ("Animalis", "the app", "we", "us"). By using Animalis you agree to them. Please read the safety points below carefully before you head outside to play.
Animalis is a game made for entertainment. It is not a field guide, a scientific tool, or a wildlife-safety service, and it should never be relied on for any decision about your safety or anyone else's. Treat everything it shows you as part of the game, not as expert advice.
The species name is an automatic guess made by AI from your photo, and it can be wrong. Never use it to decide whether an animal — or any plant, fungus, or anything else — is safe to touch, hold, pick up, get close to, keep, or eat. Many wild animals can bite, sting, scratch, or carry disease even when they look harmless, and some are venomous or poisonous. If you are not absolutely certain something is safe, stay away from it.
Animalis is designed to get you outside exploring the real world. Wherever you play:
Observe animals quietly, from a distance, and leave them and their surroundings exactly as you found them. Do not enter private property or restricted areas without permission, and do not trespass to reach a location in the game. You are responsible for following all local laws — including laws protecting wildlife, endangered species, habitats, and access to land — wherever you play.
Conservation status and other species information come from third-party sources (such as the IUCN Red List, accessed via GBIF) and may be incomplete or out of date. It is provided for general interest only and should not be relied on for any important decision.
Animalis is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties or guarantees that identifications or information will be accurate or complete, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss, injury, or damage arising from your use of Animalis, including any reliance you place on an identification or on information the app provides. You use the app, and explore the outdoors, at your own risk.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under the law that applies to you — including, where applicable, liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Some regions give you legal rights that these terms cannot take away; nothing here affects those rights.
Animalis is a paid app. Purchases and any refunds are handled by Apple's App Store or Google Play under their own terms and refund policies.
We may update these terms from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
