Cauca Guan Juvenile
Penelope perspicax (juvenile)
The juvenile Cauca guan moves through dense montane forest understory and lower branches, gradually becoming more independent. Its diet shifts strongly toward fruit, leaves, and seeds, though it may still take insects opportunistically. Growing flight feathers allow it to make short, noisy flights between perches when disturbed.
