Metallic Skink Juvenile
Carinascincus metallicus (juvenile)
Juveniles shelter among damp leaf litter, rocks, and low vegetation in Tasmania's cool forests and heathlands. They hunt tiny insects and other invertebrates while making quick dashes between cover. Their dark, striped coloration helps conceal them from birds and larger reptiles.
