European Badger

European badgers live in woodlands, hedgerows, pasture, and farmland where they dig extensive underground setts that may be used for generations. They are mostly nocturnal, foraging with a strong sense of smell for earthworms, insects, fruit, roots, small mammals, and carrion. Adults are sturdy, low-slung mammals with powerful forelimbs and long claws specialized for digging. One notable fact is that a large sett can have many entrances and a complex network of tunnels and nesting chambers.
