Blue Glaucus Veliger
Glaucus atlanticus (veliger)

This microscopic larval stage drifts as plankton in warm ocean surface waters after hatching from an egg ribbon. It feeds on tiny suspended food particles while swimming with cilia and developing the structures needed for its pelagic adult life. Unlike the shell-less adult sea slug, the veliger bears a delicate temporary larval shell.
