Atlantic Horseshoe Crab Trilobite Larva
Limulus polyphemus (trilobite larva)

Newly hatched Atlantic horseshoe crab trilobite larvae live in shallow coastal waters over sandy or muddy bottoms. They swim with their small appendages and settle among sediment, where they begin taking tiny organic particles and minute invertebrates. Their broad, segmented body closely resembles an ancient trilobite, giving this larval stage its name.
