Brown-tail Moth Caterpillar
Euproctis chrysorrhoea (larva)
Brown-tail moth caterpillars live in silken communal webs on hawthorn, blackthorn, apple, and other shrubs in hedgerows and woodland edges. They feed by chewing leaves, often emerging from their shelter to forage. Their dense, barbed hairs can cause an irritating rash in people and deter many predators.
