Great Fox-spider
Alopecosa fabrilis

The Great Fox-spider lives on dry, open sandy heathland, dunes, and sparsely vegetated ground in parts of Europe. It is a fast, ground-hunting wolf spider that prowls after insects and other small arthropods, rather than building a prey-catching web. It may use a silk-lined burrow or shallow retreat for shelter. Females carry their egg sac and later carry newly hatched young on their back, a characteristic wolf-spider behavior.
