Frequently asked questions
What is Animalis?
A real-world nature game. You explore outside, photograph real wild animals to capture them, build a personal encyclopedia, battle and evolve your team, and take over real-world gyms — all built around getting people out into nature and appreciating wild animals.
How does capturing an animal work?
Spot a creature, snap a photo in the app, and Animalis identifies the real species. Use a Net to capture it and it joins your team and your encyclopedia — complete with real taxonomy, habitat, and conservation status. Different real places turn up different species: a city park, a forest, a beach, and a riverside each have their own wildlife.
Are the animals real species?
Yes — every animal in Animalis is a real species, identified from your photo. Your collection reflects whatever genuinely lives where you are.
Is my exact location or name visible to others?
Other players never see anything that identifies you — just the trainer nickname you choose. Friends can see each other on the map while playing; anyone else only sees you when you're at a gym, the meeting spot for battles and trades. There's no public history of where you've been.
What are gyms?
Gyms are real parks and green spaces. Each is defended by a team — beat it and the gym is yours to defend with your own animals. Holding gyms earns Leaves, the in-game currency, for as long as you hold them.
What are Health Centres and Shops?
Real landmarks double as game locations: visit a real place of worship — a church, temple, or mosque — to heal your team for free at a Health Centre, and drop into a real supermarket to find a Shop selling Nets, Potions, and Revives.
How much does Animalis cost?
One purchase unlocks the whole game — pricing for your region is on the App Store and Google Play listings.
Where can I get Animalis?
On the App Store for iPhone and Google Play for Android.
Does Animalis work where I live?
Yes — Animalis works worldwide. Your local parks, rivers, and streets shape the game world, so wildlife appears wherever you are on Earth.
Do I have to disturb animals to capture them?
No — never. A photo from a respectful distance is all it takes. Observe quietly, keep your distance, and leave every animal exactly as you found it. Finding endangered species even earns bonus Leaves — the game rewards awareness, not interference.
