Mediterranean Shield Bug
Carpocoris mediterraneus

Adult Mediterranean Shield Bugs occupy warm, open habitats including meadows, farmland, and shrubland around the Mediterranean. They feed mainly on the juices of seeds, fruits, and other plant tissues, moving between host plants and occasionally flying to new patches. Their broad shield-shaped body protects them, while scent glands produce a sharp-smelling chemical defense against predators.
