Mediterranean Shield Bug Nymph
Carpocoris mediterraneus (nymph)

Mediterranean Shield Bug nymphs live among low vegetation in sunny Mediterranean grasslands, field margins, and scrub. They feed by piercing developing seeds, stems, and fruits with their beak-like mouthparts. The wingless young are compact and mottled, and can release a pungent defensive secretion when disturbed.
