Javelin Wasp
Gasteruption jaculator
Adult javelin wasps patrol sunny hedgerows, woodland edges, and gardens where solitary bees and wasps nest. They take nectar from flowers, while females search stems and holes for host brood cells. The female's exceptionally long ovipositor reaches through nest walls to lay an egg beside a host's provisions.
