Black Mud Dauber Wasp
Sceliphron destillatorium
Adults occur in warm, open habitats and often build mud nests on sheltered stonework, wood, and walls. They drink nectar for energy, while females hunt spiders to provision their developing larvae. This slender black wasp subdues spiders with its sting and carries them back to individual mud cells.
