Spider Hunting Wasp
Cryptocheilus alternatus
Adult spider-hunting wasps forage in sunny open ground, scrub, and woodland edges. Females hunt spiders, using a precise sting to paralyze prey before dragging it to an underground nest for their young. The adult feeds mainly on nectar and is capable of hauling prey that outweighs it.
