Black-chinned Hummingbird Chick
Archilochus alexandri (chick)
Black-chinned Hummingbird chicks remain in a tiny cup nest, usually placed in a shrub or small tree near open woodland and water. They are fed regurgitated nectar and small insects by their mother, growing rapidly between feedings. Nestlings are exceptionally small, weighing only a fraction of the adult's mass.
