European Green Toad Tadpole
Bufotes viridis (tadpole)

This larval stage lives in shallow ponds, ditches, flooded wheel ruts, and other temporary freshwater sites. It grazes mainly on algae, biofilm, and fine organic matter while staying close to vegetation or silt for cover. Its tail provides nearly all of its movement, letting it dart away from aquatic insects and other small predators. A notable feature is its ability to develop quickly in warm, temporary pools before they dry out.
