Ornate Moth
Utetheisa ornatrix
Adult ornate moths inhabit open fields, gardens, and weedy places where flowering plants provide nectar. They fly readily in daylight and around dusk, visiting flowers and searching for mates. Their bright patterned wings serve as a warning that the moth carries bitter, toxic plant chemicals acquired earlier in life.
